saying no to nude lips.

Left-Right; Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in OMG, Barry M Lip Paint in 53 Coral, Rimmel Lipstick in Nude Pink, Barry M Lip Paint in 147 Peachy Pink, Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Peaches&Cream

I've always been a nude kinda girl. Not in the literal sense of the word, (I do try my best to keep clothes on 99% of the time, I promise!) but I am a sucker for a good 'ole nude lipstick. You name it, I love it; Gosh Darling, MAC Hue, ELF Natural Nymph; they are the holy grails of my collection, my precious babies, which until recently I could not go a day without.

But it seems I'm going mad, because ever since a few months ago I have bizarrely been reaching more often than not for the bright, scary, bold colours in my collection... and loving it.

Maybe its the summer sun getting to my head, or the fact that every lip colour looks a million times better on me when I have a tan, but there's something about colourful lips that draws me in. The lipsticks above are some of my all time favourite 'brights', with Sleek Peaches&Cream being the best of the best!

I expect that as winter draws in and the days get colder, these summery lipsticks will get relegated to the back of my collection, ready to collect dust until rediscovered next spring, but for now... bring on the brights!

peaches&cream.

Orange lips are absolutely ma-hoooosive this summer and when I discovered Sleek's new True Colour Lipstick in Peaches&Cream, I couldn't wait to jump on the bright-lips bandwagon...

Words cannot describe how much I love this lipstick: soft, creamy, long-lasting... and most importantly- ORANGE!

You will not catch me stepping out of the house this summer without this little beauty slathered all over my lips for sure; orange lips are my new obsession, fact.

What are your thoughts on the tango-ed lip trend?

my MAC lipsticks.

For the past year or so, I have been slowly battling a lipstick obsession. Rimmel, GOSH, ELF, you name a brand, I have a lipstick by it, but my favourite lipstick brand by far is most definitely MAC. Their colour selection is outstanding, and I can't get over the gorgeous application that the 3 MAC lipsticks that I own give me. So here's a little insight into my MAC lippie collection so far...

Shy Girl
'Creamy neutral coral beige (Cremesheen)'
I adore this lippie for a pop of coral-y color when my face is lacking a bit of warmth. Its definitely a unique colour in my collection, a beautiful peach tone and its a world away from my usual fall back nude lipsticks.

Creme Cup
'Light blue pink (Cremesheen)'
This is most definitely a perfect everyday lipstick colour for me, not being too loud, bright or pale, this is a 'my lips, but just a little but better' colour.

Hue
'Soft pale pink (Glaze)'
By far my favourite of the bunch is of course Hue, which is much raved about here on Beautylishious. This is just the perfect milky, pale pink, and saves me from a world of boring nudes with a hint of colour!

*note to self- get over your fear of colourful lipsticks!*

Left to right- Hue, Creme Cup, Shy Girl

I'm always looking for more additions to my MAC lipstick family, with Plink and Lady Danger being high up on my wishlist. Any suggestion of further purchases ladies? :)

recent MAC purchases.

My mock GCSE exams are almost over, and of course for all my hard work, I had to treat myself to a few bits and bobs from MAC to cheer myself up...

Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light
Most definitely one of MAC's cult products, I knew that this had to be one of my first purchases. I had high hopes for this gorgeous product, and of course it did not disappoint! This has taken over as my go-to foundation, for a super light, very natural coverage, and looks like I'm wearing absolutely no makeup whatsoever, just leaving behind beautiful skin.

Studio Finish Concealor in NC20
I was in desperate need for a new concealer, and, inspired by dozens of YouTube gurus, I went for this hugely popular MAC concealer. I've been really enjoying this, and I'm pleased with the coverage and the flawless way it can cover blemishes. I even use this on my under eye circles if I'm having a particularly tied day, and it works wonders at covering darkness and creating a brightened complexion.

Lipstick in Shy Girl
Ooofft. This little beauty is most definitely my fave of the bunch, an overwhelmingly stunning nudey peach with gorgeous gold shimmer. I've been wearing it non-stop since its purchase, and it really is one of the loveliest lipsticks I own, and the name could even be a representation of me! Here's how it looks on moi...

Blehh! Please excuse my dried out lips!

Overall I'm hugely happy with all my MAC purchases, I think its love! :)

Next up in line to try are the paint pots, creme blush and more lipsticks, specifically Creme Cup.

Have a lovely week girlies!

My Top Five Lipsticks...

Hey Dolls...

Out of all of the makeup products in the whole wide world, I would have to say that lipstick is one of my all time favourites. The variety of colours, the exciting textures and just the damn amazing gorgeous-ness of them puts lipstick at the forefront of all makeup in my opinion, and I feel that no shopping trip is complete unless I've got a beautifully wrapped little lippie sitting at the bottom of my shopping bags.

So today, in honour of my favourite makeup product, here are my top 5 lipsticks from my collection...

(L-R, Barry M Coral, ELF Nicely Nude, 17 Balmy Beige, MAC Hue, Gosh Darling)

My nude lips, just for comparison...

5
Barry M Lipstick in Coral
This is an extremely bright and beautiful, full on coral orange, with very fine sparkle running through it. I would say that this is a little drying, but I love it just for the stunning colour, that is perfect for Summer, if summer ever even arrives!

4
ELF Mineral Lipstick in Nicely Nude
Of course, by no means a 'nude' colour, but true to the other part of its name, it is extremely 'nice'. A beautiful warm pink, its perfect for everyday wear and looks beautiful teamed with a soft pink gloss. If your looking for a barbie pink then keep looking, but this is a softer, more wearable alternative. I feel that it is moisturising and so amazing to wear, such a perfect pink.

3
17 Lipstick in Balmy Beige
This beautiful, soft coral/orange/goldey colour is the perfect sheer top coat for other lipsticks, to add a little bit of dazzle to your lips. Although it doesn't give an amazing impression on its own, it looks beautiful teamed with nude lips, pink lips, coral lips, any old lips!

2
MAC Lipstick in Hue (Glaze)
This stunning, sheer nude pink lipstick is one of those 'your lips- but better' colours, which adds hints of colours without looking too full-on or overdone. Its got a beautiful texture and is perfect for doing nude lips without going too nude, and ending up looking dead...

And finally... first place goes too... *drum roll please*

1
Gosh Lipstick in Darling
Oh what can I say about my favourite lipstick in the world!? The perfect nude, with pink undertones, I think this colour would suit almost everybody, and is the perfect way for toning down overly bright colours, making smoky eyes pop and warming up the complexion. Used full pelt its a very pigmented nude which knocks out the colour in your lips, although I prefer to use it dabbed on my lips sparingly, just for the hint of a nude lip. Overall, an all round stunner!!

So girlie's, you've heard my list, but what about you?! Whats your favourite lipstick in the whole wide world!?

This is a scheduled post, as I'm on holiday at the moment, so apologies if I don't get back to you straight away...
