create!makeup

Last Thursday I attended the Create! Makeup Workshop at the V&A museum in London, which was basically a day filled with makeup, makeup and just a little bit more makeup. The artist leading it was Mel Winning, who is a fantastic makeup artist, and during the workshop we had a little look around the theatre part of the museum, had a talk on makeup artistry from Mel and had a chance to practise our techniques on each other...

I attended the workshop with one of my friends, Kelly, who is also completely obsessed with makeup, who let me do her makeup, if a little reluctantly ;)

Overall it was a fantastic day and I learnt so much about makeup and the industry and it has made me wonder a little more about actually going into makeup as a proper career...

The workshop was £15 and I would highly reccomend attending one of the Create Workshops if you are interested in makeup or fashion!

lets vamp it up.

After picking up the beautiful Maybelline Gel Liner the other day, it has integrated into my daily makeup routine, displacing the old ELF Cream Liner that used to be my liner of choice. The Maybelline version is a lot creamier, easier to work with and also includes a lovely little brush which is perfect for creating a multitude of different lines.

I was recently inspired by the wonderful Lisa Eldridge and her liner in this tutorial of hers, and had a wee go at recreating the look myself:

By no means is my version anywhere near as perfect as Lisa's original but I absolutely adore this look! It almost reminds me of something Gaby from the TV show Made in Chelsea would wear, and I love how dramatic and bold it is!

In the picture above I paired it with Hue lipstick from Mac, so as not to draw too much attention away from the eyes, however I also had a little play with my Sleek OMG Lipstick...

Paired with red lipstick it looks a little 'vamp-ish' and my mother even referred to it as 'Mautitia Adams' type makeup!

Although this isn't exactly wearable for everyday I'm still in love with the idea of dramatic cat liner, and I really hope Maybelline come out with different colours in their new liner!

youtube inspiration.

Pixi2woo is one of my absolute favourite beauty guru's on YouTube, and her makeup tutorials are some of the best, in my opinion. One of her latest is based on Beyonce's makeup in the music video for Why Don't You Love Me and the makeup was so beautiful I just had to give it a go...

I absolutely adore this makeup, its soft but also very bold and I'm really embracing big black flicks in my eyeliner at the moment, a la Audrey Hepburn :)

Lately I've been feeling a little tired of my everyday makeup, which is very boring and simple for school and their stupid 'no makeup allowed' rules. I literally cannot wait for 6th form and for this year to be finished, as wearing proper makeup may actually be the thing I'm most looking forward to when I finish year 11... sad, I know ;)

Therefore, it's always nice to try something new with my makeup and shake it up a bit!

Makeup Editoral Look ♥

I am always amazed at lovely bloggers on here and on YouTube who can create astonishing makeup looks, and am jealous of their amazing editorial work they create from just a few basic products and a 'blank canvas' - face.

So, as an aspiring makeup artist/beauty journalist myself, I decided to try out a bit of 'face art', inspired by youtubers such as CosmeticsCharlotte72 and MakeupByRisa...

I used ELF Cream Eyeliner in Black, Barry M Dazzledust in Mushroom (used wet) and Benefit Lust Duster in Moon Doggie (also used wet) to create this look :)

By no means is this anywhere near as good as anything the amazing artists on YouTube and blogger can create, however I am actually quite pleased with the result, for me a makeup artistry newbie :)

I based this pattern/look on flowers and fireworks night, and played around until I came up with something decent.

Upon showing my family my makeup, I was subjected to a lot of dropped jaws and 'What have you done?!'s before they eventually gathered I was trying out a whole new look.

I'm hoping the reactions from my lovely followers will be a little less shocked, but all the same what do you think? Honest opinions please :)
