boots girl.

So I started my job at Boots about a month ago... and so far I love it. Long hours, grumpy customers and sore feet aside, its a lovely store, with lovely people and even lovelier surrounding (makeup... ahem) and I can definitely see myself staying there a good while, although my bank balance surely isn't thanking me for it! Being surrounded by products all day makes me crave new makeup and skincare and haircare... and just about everything else. If anyone reading is looking into taking a job at Boots I would most highly recommend it:)

In other news...

I am being forced to read classics for my English A level summer work... kill me now. I have struggled my way through the Great Gatsby and am currently working on Emma, and have decided that I'm just not a classics type of girl.

I'm in love with my Sleek Blushes in Rose Gold and Pan Tao, shooooooo pweetttty! Ahem, all jokes aside these blushes are the bomb.com (oh my.) and I can't get enough.

...and my final new obsession.. tumbrl! I love it! Follow my (rather lacking) blog here if you want to take a peep, although be prepared for a lot of TV quotes... they just make me giggle.

I'm off on holiday next week (woohoo!) to Spain so see ya laterz alligaterz.

Aussie Giveaway

Hey Everyone! Sorry for not being around much on the blogosphere! Hopefully this will make up for it though!
As many of you know, I am an Aussie Angel for Aussie Haircare and they have kindly offered to celebrate their 'Aussie-Versary' for seven lucky followers to win a pack of gorgeous products from the lovely PR team. I received my package last week and it contained some sun glasses, flip flops, sweets, party poppers and some great Take The Heat Conditioner and Heat Spray which I picked from a selection of goodies. Aussie are offering the chance for seven lucky readers of mine, selected at random, to win a product of their choice and then also be offered the chance to win one each of ten VIP Passes to the Aussie Party in the UK's capital in October.          What you have to do is...

Tell me what you have to celebrate right now?
It can be anything at all, and to be honest I'm hoping for some exciting things! Anything from holidays coming up, new changes happening in your life, new love or a movement into your future...I'd love to hear about it! You have to be from the UK to enter, but feel free to tell friends!

The competition ends Wednesday 22nd at Midnight - so not long to enter. Sorry!
Hopefully you all have enough time to get involved to win some amazing prizes!

create!makeup

Last Thursday I attended the Create! Makeup Workshop at the V&A museum in London, which was basically a day filled with makeup, makeup and just a little bit more makeup. The artist leading it was Mel Winning, who is a fantastic makeup artist, and during the workshop we had a little look around the theatre part of the museum, had a talk on makeup artistry from Mel and had a chance to practise our techniques on each other...

a replica of Kylie Minogue's actual dressing table on her Showgirl tour.

I attended the workshop with one of my friends, Kelly, who is also completely obsessed with makeup, who let me do her makeup, if a little reluctantly ;)

Overall it was a fantastic day and I learnt so much about makeup and the industry and it has made me wonder a little more about actually going into makeup as a proper career...

The workshop was £15 and I would highly reccomend attending one of the Create Workshops if you are interested in makeup or fashion!

saying no to nude lips.

Left-Right; Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in OMG, Barry M Lip Paint in 53 Coral, Rimmel Lipstick in Nude Pink, Barry M Lip Paint in 147 Peachy Pink, Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Peaches&Cream

I've always been a nude kinda girl. Not in the literal sense of the word, (I do try my best to keep clothes on 99% of the time, I promise!) but I am a sucker for a good 'ole nude lipstick. You name it, I love it; Gosh Darling, MAC Hue, ELF Natural Nymph; they are the holy grails of my collection, my precious babies, which until recently I could not go a day without.

But it seems I'm going mad, because ever since a few months ago I have bizarrely been reaching more often than not for the bright, scary, bold colours in my collection... and loving it.

Maybe its the summer sun getting to my head, or the fact that every lip colour looks a million times better on me when I have a tan, but there's something about colourful lips that draws me in. The lipsticks above are some of my all time favourite 'brights', with Sleek Peaches&Cream being the best of the best!

I expect that as winter draws in and the days get colder, these summery lipsticks will get relegated to the back of my collection, ready to collect dust until rediscovered next spring, but for now... bring on the brights!

London Africa Fashion Week

One lovely Saturday I got on a bus and ventured to London for the day for fashion shows, croissants, bloggers, fashion designers, gorgeous people and lots of cameras. This was the first London Africa Fashion Week and I felt that it really showed all the stereotypical aspects of how people view African women and fashion, but also they showed the development of how African fashion has developed and how it has actually become very western in the shapes, designs and colour detail. The transformation of the old and the new was beautifully shown and each design was more exciting than the last. I met some amazing bloggers especially Emily from EmilyDivine  who I spent most of the day with, also some other gorgeous girlies! We all met at Patisserie Valerie where we were briefed on the day then set off ready for the 4 shoots throughout the day! So below is a selection of my favourite images, and trust me there were a lot more! I had to cut it down to this many and that was a struggle! The first image is purposefully unclear as the day was such a blur to me with all the smiles, chatting and colourful excitement.
